Historical foyer Henriette Westermayr
first floor
The historic foyer, named after Henriette Westermayr, has been painstakingly restored with great attention to detail. Cool marble and 1950s charm give the room its character and lend urban elegance to the entrance foyer of the former Hanauer Stadthalle. The historic foyer can also be used for events in the concert hall and conference room (Landgrave Alexander Friedrich von Hessen Hall).

Christiane Henriette Dorothea Westermayr (1772- ca. 1834)
Henriette followed her husband Conrad Westermayr from Weimar to Hanau in 1806 when he became a professor at the academy in Hanau. She was instrumental in helping him to revive the decaying academy of drawing. In addition to embroidery and drawing, she painted in oil, gouache, watercolor and sepia. She also mastered the techniques of etching and copper etching. In Hanau, Henriette Westermayr mainly painted portraits and landscapes and produced embroideries on a large scale.
